Jr Salesforce Developer


PenFed is hiring a Jr Salesforce Developer at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job quickly learn new technologies and approaches in designing and deploying internet solutions through the use of cloud-based platforms, which includes technical design/development, configuration, maintenance, administration and integration of the Salesforce platform.

Essential Functions

  • Learn Apex, Visualforce and programming skills
  • Provide solutions that are highly scalable, extensible and easy to maintain while keeping the overall end-user experience in mind
  • Develop skills to assume full control and responsibility for finding solution to highly ambiguous problems, and drive towards simple, but elegant solutions
  • Work within a team of analysts, developers, and testers to build web-based applications
  • Work with senior level developers to obtain skills for designing, developing, and deploying specific components or modules of large enterprise-level systems
  • Engage in all aspects of Agile development including understanding business requirements (Epics and Stories) and testing support

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, physics or related discipline is preferred. 
  • Previous internship experience is a plus.
  • Java/JSP/XML/JSON/Web Services (WSDL/SOAP/REST) knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience working on CRM/Salesforce is a plus.
  • Strong Interest in application development and configuration.
  • Familiarity working in an Agile environment.  
  • Willingness to experiment and innovate through technology. 
  • Outstanding communications and team working skills are required.
  • Success oriented individual with a strong desire to grow technically and exceed customer expectations.
  • Other similar professional duties maybe assigned as needed.
  • Interest or Knowledge in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application.
  • Interested in learning how to integrate data from multiple external sources and leverage it within the CRM environment.
  • Interest in working with scripted data loader, web services, cloud or on premise middleware and other enterprise integrating technologies.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees. 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Salesforce Developer certification will be required after defined training period 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
