Levy Specialist


PenFed is hiring a Levy Specialist at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job is to process garnishments, levies, liens, child support orders and similar legal process received by PenFed.

Essential Functions

  • Complete all duties necessary to process all levies, garnishments and similar legal process received in accordance with applicable law and PenFed policies and procedures.
  • Process levies and garnishments accurately and timely.
  • Review and update member’s account with appropriate comments and place a hold on the account as required, prepare member notification regarding the receipt of the levy or garnishment and actions taken on member’s account as required.
  • Complete appropriate transaction documentation and/or operational steps and work with other PenFed business units to ensure processing of account holds, withdrawal of account funds, and remitting funds as required.
  • Respond to levy and garnishment member inquiries.
  • Process levy and garnishment releases and remove account holds as appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit garnishment and levy responses to the court/government agency in compliance with the order.
  • File, maintain and archive all garnishment and levy documentation.
  • Maintain monthly reports and forwards to the Manager as requested.          

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related field is required.                                                                  
  • Diplomacy in dealing with members who have questions regarding levies and garnishments on their account(s).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and record keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of bank operations.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

Licenses and Certifications

There are no additional certifications required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
