Senior Director, Unsecured Loan Products

PenFed is hiring a Senior Director, Unsecured Loan Products in Tysons, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job is to lead development of new products and existing products, develop ideas that promote the growth and profitability of the unsecured loan portfolio including, but not limited to personal loans, student loans and home improvement loans.  This role will lead competitive market positioning, product pricing, product planning and enterprise coordination of product launches and revisions.  Additionally, this role will develop comprehensive product targeting, growth and experience strategies backed by robust business controls and policies/processes improvements in order to optimize portfolio performance.

  • Lead development of new products, refine existing products and develop ideas that promote the growth of unsecured loan products.
  • Identify product opportunities, assess risk and proactively develop product design enhancements and improved sales practices to increase unsecured loan products.
  • Create marketing strategy for unsecured loan product growth and work with marketing, IT and operations on development and implementation.
  • Assess operational policies and processes and make recommendations to ensure optimal member experience for unsecured loan products.
  • Utilize statistical metrics and models that provide insights into response, balance, rate, segmentation, and price elasticity, etc. to identify target segments and marketing tactics.
  • Review competitive market practices and make recommendations concerning adjustments to programs in related areas.
  • Collaborate with finance, treasury, compliance, legal, technology, branch services, omni channel and marketing partners to support unsecured loan product growth.
  • Create unsecured loan product initiatives with other product lines to drive growth.
  • Develop and lead partnership opportunities and day-to-day relationships.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on training and incentives.
  • Recommend unsecured loan product pricing to the Pricing Committee.
  • Create key metrics and system to monitor and measure unsecured loan product growth.

Education and Experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance with preference for quantitative fields (e.g., Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, Predictive modeling) or a related field is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or in a quantitative field is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in financial services is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience developing unsecured loan products is required.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of driving unsecured loan product growth is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data to make decisions.
  • Track record of creating unsecured loan growth strategies and implementing results-oriented tactics.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will directly supervise employees.

Licenses and Certifications
There are no additional certifications required.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.


Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
